Philip Treacy shoes? Yes, please!

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

We love Philip Treacy, and we love shoes, so when we heard that our favourite hat designer was turning his talents to footwear, we were understandably very excited.

Philip Treacy created a collection of shoes that debuted at Valentino’s Spring / Summer 2010 show during Paris Fashion Week, and boy were they impressive.

Opulent, extravagant and oh so beautiful, the shoes, like Treacy’s hats, are truly works of art. Now we will literally be able to look fabulous from head to toe…

Hat designer Philip Treacy said that “a good hat is the ultimate glamour accessory” and we wholeheartedly agree.

This year make sure all eyes are on you with some fabulous show-stopping headwear from his collection at me me me.

He also created that SJP hat that got everyone talking at the Sex and the City film premiere in London (she must have an amazing hat collection!)

a day in the life of my fabulous kokin hat!

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

One of our very chic customers Miss Penny Harker recently purchased a Kokin hat from us to be worn at the event of the racing calender, Royal Ascot.  As we were insanely jealous and a little nosey Penny kindly wrote an account of her fabulous day!

A day in the life of my fabulous hat
On the way to the airport the hat was very concerned about being put into the baggage hold, being crushed and thrown around simply wouldn’t do!  Twenty minutes at the BA check-in desk and three air hostesses later the hat somehow by-passed security and travelled to London in the cock-pit, sitting right next to the pilot!  Perfect.

After a quick change the hat was out of its box, on the head and off to Chelsea for a champagne breakfast at 10.00am.  After being admired by Saffron Aldridge and the editor of “She” magazine the hat, myself and our party jumped into a very impressive Rolls Royce and headed for Ascot.

The weather was great and the “fabulous hat” looked uber feminine amongst the men’s top hats.  We watched the procession with her majesty resplendent in a wonderful yellow outfit and matching hat.  We then began placing some bets and the first race we won was on a horse named “Cesare”!  After much more drinking and betting our party, the hat and I sat for our awfully British cucumber sandwiches and tea.

The day was a wonderful success and the hat performed beautifully!  One hangover and another party later the hat and I flew home. I went to rest and the “fabulous hat” went back into my wardrobe to wait for its next adventure…

Thanks to the glamorous and wonderful girls at me, me, me!

Get designer headwear inspiration from the ladies at royal ascot

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Now I must admit I don’t have an awful lot of knowledge on Royal Ascot,  my general gist on the whole event is big track, lots of horses and posh people.  In fact, come to think of it I probably don’t know much about racing in general.  However, I do enjoy each year, as many of us do, checking out the fabulous fashions, eccentric hats and striking headpieces seen on the ladies of Royal Ascot.  Not to mention having a good old gossip on who we think looks race day chic and who pulled the worst fashion faux-pas.  I have have had a little look and put together a few of my fav pics from Ascot 2009.  It was also good to see Camilla Parker Bowles in a Philip Treacy creation, looking very chic in pastel pinks, we have this very creation in our Clayton Road shop and of course online so if you fancy following in royal footsteps come have a look!

It’s all about the hat at this year’s weddings

Friday, June 12th, 2009

At the weekend I was bridesmaid at a very fabulous wedding of one of my very best friends.  Now, I love a good wedding but even more I love a good hat and boy there was some pretty impressive headwear going on at this particular wedding! So, as another wedding looms next month and race season is upon us I have been well and truly tempted and have decided I am indeed

a hat girl!  As per usual I have done a little snooping on the web at some celebs and their choice in headwear for a little inspiration.  At mememe we sell some great pieces from Philip Treacy and Kokin, but let me know your thoughts and if you have found any fabulous new designers out there that may tickle our fancy!
